Custom faux plants & botanical light fixtures

Large handcrafted artificial trees, bespoke faux plantscapes, and greenery-integrated light fixtures — built piece by piece by The Plant Artist, our design studio, and installed across Los Angeles and Orange County by the same family since 1986.

Large handcrafted trees

Statement trees for spaces live plants can't survive

Some of the most beautiful spaces in LA are the hardest ones to keep a live tree alive in: dim corners, double-height stairwells, spots ten feet from the nearest window. That's where a handcrafted faux tree wins — like the preserved bonsai pine shown here, rising from its own raked-gravel garden on an office mezzanine.

  • No light needed: thrives in windowless rooms, dim corners, and deep floor plans.
  • Made for tall spaces: stairwells, atriums, and double-height lobbies where live trees are impractical to place and care for.
  • Zero water, zero care schedule: no irrigation, no service visits — just an occasional dusting.
  • Always perfect: full and green on day one and year five, with no off days.

Want live, growing greenery where your light allows it? We do that too — see our office plant service. We'll tell you honestly which fits each spot.

Built for the space, not off the shelf

No two pieces are alike — each one is designed for its exact spot, then built to fit it.

The craft

Every tree built by hand, branch by branch

These aren't showroom trees pulled from a catalog. Each piece is handcrafted in the studio — trunk, branches, and foliage shaped one at a time the way the real species grows, then sized to your ceiling height and sightlines. The photo here shows one of our olive trees mid-build.

It's the difference you feel without being able to name it: the asymmetry, the density of the canopy, the way the branches carry their weight. It's why people touch our trees before they believe them.

Our custom pieces are designed and built by The Plant Artist, our design studio — the same studio behind our preserved moss walls — and installed by our own crew.

Botanical light fixtures

Lighting and greenery in one suspended piece

Our botanical light fixtures weave greenery directly into architectural lighting — a linear fixture trailing foliage over a conference table, a glowing canopy above a bar, a green halo over reception. One suspended piece does the work of both, and it becomes the thing people photograph.

Each fixture is designed for its room by The Plant Artist, our design studio, and installed cleanly by our crew. Because the greenery needs no water or sunlight, the fixture stays as perfect as the day it went up.

The studio behind the work

By The Plant Artist, our design studio

The custom pieces on this page come from The Plant Artist, the modern design studio our family runs alongside Area Indoor Plants — known for preserved moss walls, large handcrafted faux trees, and botanical light fixtures. You'll find our work in flagship restaurants, headquarters lobbies, and hillside homes across Los Angeles and Orange County — the kinds of spaces where every detail gets noticed, and where the greenery has to hold up to that standard.

One family covers the whole arc: the studio designs and builds the piece, and our own crew delivers and installs it — the same people, start to finish.

Questions

Custom plant questions, answered

Do custom faux plants really look realistic?

Yes — that's the whole point of building them by hand. Each tree is crafted branch by branch and shaped the way the real species grows, so it reads as real from across the room and up close. Visitors routinely have to touch our olive trees before they believe it.

Do faux plants and botanical light fixtures need any maintenance?

Almost none. There's no watering, no light requirement, and no plant-care schedule — an occasional gentle dusting keeps a faux tree or greenery light fixture looking exactly the way it did on install day, year after year.

How much do custom faux plants and light fixtures cost?

Every piece is quoted per project, because each one is designed and built for your space — size, species, and design drive the price. Schedule a free on-site walk-through and you'll have a written proposal with exact pricing within one business day, no obligation. Call (818) 957-8719 to set it up.
